puppies!  yay.

depends on if you want a big doggie or a little
doggie.

if it were me:

big doggie: old english sheep dog (which i grew up
with)--a girl though.  they're much sweeter.  and all
of them have a deep bark that scares people
(protection aspect).  but so sweet and can do his/her
own thing--very laid back.

little doggie: tibetan terrier (what my mom is growing
up with)--these are more sensitive than any i've ever
met.  tibetan monks used to breed them as comfort
dogs.  they're trained to visit children in hospitals!
 and i can see knowing rosie dear.  she's something
else!  very sensitive and cudly.  spritely little
thing.
