19 personal notes on the 'christian v. secular' debate

Subject: "18 personal notes on the false dichotomy of
the 'christian v. secular' debate"

what i know about music
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
there should be no christian music.
there should be no secular music.
it should be a false dichotomy.
people are always going to try to uphold the faulty
  dichotomy anyhow.  i used to fight it.  i'll
  choose to live with it for now.
listen to what you want to.
listen to what makes you happy.
listen to whatever brings your spirit closer to the
  divine.
listen to whatever brings you joy.
listen to whatever moves you.
listen to what makes you laugh, what makes you cry.
listening preference varies from person to person.
listening style varies from person to person.
lyrical and musical interpretation varies from
  person to person.  something awfully sad to one
  person might bring extreme joy to another.  i'd
  say that interpretations can be like snowflakes.
there should not be any barriers, whether imposed
  by you or others, on what a person listens to.
limiting one's own musical intake (just like any
  other intake) based solely on style, creed, form
  is a narrow view of the possibilities abounding.
be open minded to see the bigger picture.
if you choose not to be, that's fine, too; but it's
  not recommended by me.
i believe that music is an extremely personal thing.
it is a powerful art form.  it is something that i
am passionate about.
make your own decisions about it, though.
that is all,
Dan
