Re: Top 5 Concerts in the last 12 months
I'll jump on this train:
1. Patty Griffin (w/ Over the Rhine and Michael Fracaso) - 04/19/02,
Calvin College, Grand Rapids, MI (student ticket price: $5) Patty was
Amazing! (that's like amazing, but the 'A' is capitalized), and OtR did
all the songs I'd wished they'd done at their Christmas show, so I was a
muy happy camper. They played Green Clouded Swallowtail (this song makes
me giddy with anticipation for their next album).
2. Over the Rhine, Films for Radio/Darkest Night combo show (cuz it was
near Christmas) - 12/06/01, Calvin College (student ticket: $3) So much
OtR goodness in one night...
3. Claire Holley - 11/13/01, Calvin College (Fish House Live series)
(free show) small room, a few couches, great music, what else do you need?
4. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - 09/13/01, Calvin College (student
ticket: $7) OK, is it just me, or does Victor Wooten steal the show?
That man can play a bass, now.
5. Madison Green - 09/03/01, Calvin College (student ticket: $1) These
guys are just fun, but they are more fun in the Fish House (this concert
was in the big auditorium).
And yes, those student ticket prices are there to make you jealous. ;-)
