shoes AND a quote from maddy hordinski
Ick I hate wearing shoes too - I do wear them but in the summer, all I
want is my toes free and airy. I used to work at a place where I was
supposed to wear gym shoes but I never did until I was actually in an
administration position. So here are some excuses you could use to get
out of wearing gym shoes...
- I forgot
- Oh yeah I guess these are not gym shoes
- Oh sorry
- Just pretend you didn't hear the instructions
- They will get ruined because we are painting today / playing in
bubbles / going creeking / going to the pool
Now if you really want to be good here are some ways and they will help
save your feet
- Get a pair of decent gym shoes in your correct size - personally I
really like adidas trail runners because they provide enough support
are fairly light and very rugged. Personally, I have had some problems
with new balance but I know of people who just swear by them.
- Change your socks in the middle of the day they make your feet feel
great
- Wear socks that pull the moisture away from your skin… the kind that
runners wear
- I wear cotton socks and try to only buy socks that are over 50%
cotton. I know they are not the best but they really keep my feet
comfortable
"Poppa... The more you talk, the more I don't hit the
ball!" - Maddy Hordinski
I can only assume that this quote was from Ric’s daughter when I saw
this on DonSmith's email … it has spurred on some of my thoughts about
childhood and parenthood. Some of my fondest memories are of singing
with my mom in the car or in the bathtub. When I was very young, I used
to get sick in the middle of the night and call out for my mom. Quite
frequently, it would occur when it was not so convenient for my mom and
dad to come in my room to take care of a child who had just gotten sick
all over the bed. My father would clean up my room, often having to try
to rescue my prized books that were all over my bed and on the floor
from having read until I fell asleep. Then my mom would have to sing me
to sleep. My mom’s voice has over the years, been a source of annoyance
more so when I was a pre-teen and teenager (now only occasionally).
My mom does not have a good singing voice but I appreciate the fact she
always sang to me even up when I graduated from high school she would
come into my room singing a tune from “Singing in the Rain” or maybe it
is “White Christmas”
Good morning, good morning you’ve slept the whole night through good
morning good morning to you and you and you and you
When I began working at camp I continued my mom’s tradition by singing
my own wake up song of “Rise and Shine”
So back to my original point that I am slowly, getting to Ric has on of
the loveliest voices I have ever listened to as does Karin (and
Linford). Could you ever imagine getting tired of listening to them,
and from their children’s perspective their voices will not be that big
of deal – they will just be the voices that tell them when to go to
bed, wake up in the morning and to go brush their teeth as well as
countless other things both menial and wonderful.
It was just a thought I had when I saw DonSmith’s quote on his e-mail.
