Racist?  In theory, could not these illegal immigrants be from England or
some similar country?  (Not that everyone there is white, of course.)

It has been eight years since I last went to England, but I remember very
well how *strange* it felt to be in a place where the white population
could legitimately claim to be the "natives" of that place.

I also tend to do a double-take whenever people refer to the black
population in South Africa as "natives".  In North America, being "black"
and being "native" are two entirely different things ...

Gas prices aren't the only problem here.  And remember, we had our little
flirtation with violating civil liberties to combat terrorism during the
FLQ crisis in October 1970 (the month that I was born, as it happens).
