This is a long overdue thank you to all the good people who stopped by the OTR merch booth at the C-Stone '02 Festival. Whether you were there to chat or buy or both, you made a long, hot, and arduous week much more pleasant. All in all OTR must have the finest collection of fans on the planet.
Merci mille fois to Lezlie, Chris(topher), Patty, Julia, Eric & Megan for all the help you provided me. It was nice to have bathroom breaks, water breaks, and time to sneak off to some shady spot for a 20-30 minute nap. God bless the inventors of ear plugs and eye shades. Even in a crowd of 28,000 they get the job done.
A bit of sad news: While Linford and I were dismantling the booth and packing things back up around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, we discovered that the base of the famous "Patience Clock" was missing. It was still there an hour or so before the acoustic set, but was gone afterwards. I don't think it was stolen -- who would take the base and leave the clock?! Most likely it fell into the trash and was taken out (though I searched the trash diligently with no results) or fell into a box of other things and was packed away. Let's hope it turns up. Oh to to lose such a recognizable OTR icon! But as Linford put it, "It's just stuff. Now we can say, 'Cornerstone 2002 was the year we lost part of the clock.' "
