Re: Namesies.
I know this may be a little late to join in on this topic I've been catching
up and thinking of all our weird names (in Wales and the UK)
one of my favourites is a tiny village in sommerset called 'Star'
we also have a valley that translates as 'Echo vale with the lake of shining
waters' and a 'Mountain of Doom' (J.R.Tolkein eat your heart out)
I feel eternally sorry for the people who live in
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgolgerychwydroblllantisiliogogogoch
and have to write that on one line of an envelope
(and when it's not twelve am, I may remember precisely what that means,
something about the red red church of saint mary's the lesser,by the white
pool with the goat field. I think.)
although I do think the people of Phuket deserve endless sympathy especially
those unfortunate to live in the area so thoughtfully called Cock Hill.
a latecomer,
Tash
