wait a minute.  There was a Patowatamie (or some other transliteration) tribe
that lived in Illinois, at least.  There was a park in St. Charles named after
them.  I suspect the Indiana town name is from the tribe, but perhaps it's
just a coincidence.

Indiana also has Gnaw Bone and Beanblossom, which are right near Santa Clause.

Liesel, you lived in Normal?  Wow.  I know people from Normal.  I'm going there 
in July, too, for a week.

My all-time favorite place name is a lake in Massachusetts.  It is usually
referred to by the drab name of Lake Webster, but its *real* name is the native
american name: Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.  Which
means "you fish on your side, I fish on my side, nobody fish in the middle."
