RE: Questions for L&Karin/Beachland Ballroom show
My question for Linford, which I wanted to ask back in December at the
Beachland "Ballroom" show this:
"In 'Mary's Waltz', does Mary die at the end?"
I'd always assumed that she did, what with all those "was" and "lived" and
other past tense type words in the song, but I may be a pessimist, with my
glass half empty. (Jontaha Brooke shoots into my brain now.)
Anyway, remember Gay Miller, the optician I work with who likes OtR? She
asked this question to me. Funny how I'd always assumed she died. Perhaps
the narrator simply moved?
Anyway, I couldn't ask Linford, 'cause he and Jessyka had a mutual
appreciation society type deal going on, and I faded into the woodwork, as
I'm so prone to do.
But I'd like to thank Jessyka in the presence of God and the list for
inviting me, of all people. That was flattering, considerate, and a litle
touching. Though I fear my company was unable to compare to the estatic
emotional peaks attained during her weekend retreat, the sleep deprivation
was more than likely the reason she was less perky than usual.
And I'll even thank mr.j.g. for the admission and the directions. You sound
like a decent chap.
Here's the setlist I promised weeks ago:
All I Need...
If Nothing Else
When I Go
I Radio Heaven
Anything @ all
Faithfully Dangerous
Darlin', Christmas is coming
All I get fer Christmas is Blue
Silent Night (rockin', with Jack making the lead line all flashy and bendy!)
Cure these Dreams (Jack's song, Karin sings)
Holy Rain (Jack sings)
World Can Wait (piano)
Karin's Ohio song ("Hello, Ohio"? solo piano)
Jack's Valentine (with heavy metal solo by Jack! Hammerin' the notes like a
madman!)
Miles (free of those "wobbly" mellotron effects! YAY!)
I am a Pilgrim (Steve Earle)
Encore: Goodbye, Latter Days
Conclusion- I REALLY dig Jack now! I only pray that sort of fiesty spunk
rears it's head on record! Oh, and Karin is destined for a very prominent
place in the heavenly choir. And Linford really is, as I once surmised, the
nicest person in show biz!
belatedly,
Matt
