Ark show and why I'm not sick of otr shows

Hello everyone,
I was in attendance at the Ark show on Sunday night. Burrill, I think that I
stood right behind you in line outside before the show. I was with two
friends (a couple) and you and a blond female were standing in front of the
showcase out front. Am I right??? I think I saw you front and center during
the show.
As for Linford's family being in attendance. The younger version of Linford
you saw entering the show was indeed Myron, his baby brother. Molly was
there too. Also, Grace and Frances were there with their families. They all
sat along the very back row and Linford hung out with them before the show.
Hope that clears that up.
The show was great. I was personally bummed that my view of Dave getting the
groove on was blocked by Terri the entire show. I even moved two seats over,
hoping to get a better view. Anyway, I got the chance to bring a new person
into the fold. He said he enjoyed the show and coming from him, I think that
was the biggest compliment he could have given.
The show was ever enjoyable. I've read the talk here lately about some
complaining that they were disappointed at show shows, the band plays the
same old songs, blah, blah, blah.
I started thinking about how I have found myself traveling hundreds of miles
in three directions, shelling out more than $40 (at Christmas no less), and
having to explain to my co-workers four times in the last month that what I
was doing weekend is "going to see over the rhine." "Over the what?" was
their replay one month ago. Now, they just finish the sentence for me when I
start explaining that I am going to a concert this weekend.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I simply enjoy ever single show I
attend. I have never been disappointed in the three dozen or so times I've
seen otr since 1992. Why?? At the most basic level, I think it's because
it's an experience where for a few hours I know I can leave everything at
the door. I like to daydream and to be inspired and there's nothing like an
otr show to foster that environment. But, what I really love about each and
every show is that I can find something that makes the experience a little
bit different than the last show I went to. I can remember Linford playing
"Little Genius" at the Cinci Zoo years ago. It rained that day, but boy do I
remember that song. I had been waiting. I could digress here and let you in
on so many moments.
Many times, I just enjoy the feeling of watching friends meet them for the
first time, or looking around Canal Street and watching the faces of
strangers, but that I know in some strange way are friends. I remember one
Christmas show at Canal Street a few years back, when it was amazing to me
that I was in a bar in Dayton listening to "silent night."
I guess I've just went off on that long tangent to say that I don't know
what some of you are talking about. I suppose Sunday night was a bit like
the Friday night show I saw the week before. But, it didn't mean any less to
me.
In closing, I guess the next time I write, I'll try to remember not to spill
it all. :D
Oh, and Dan Temmesfeld... if you are reading this....I couldn't miss the
"raiding windmills" line in your last post. Probably because I blared that
disc all the way to Detroit on Saturday. Have you (or anyone else for that
matter) got a copy of toad's latest, "PS...a retrospective"? Any reviews
out there?
Thanks for listening. Sarah Jane
