What's the matter with Poughkeepsie

<< But I do have to agree. I really adore Poughkeepsie. I really wouldn't be
here on the list without it-- I realised when a band I'd never seen before
played a song I'd never heard before and it made me cry, that they must be
rather special. Then I won Patience, and that was the end of THAT. Or the
 beginning. Take your pick.

Ok, I'll take a second to second that vote (Did I mean to do that?) I am one
of the fellow "Make my ears bleed" Listies. They include a few of us that
were initially forced to listen to OTR and then sometime later realized that
we actually enjoyed them. Now, I am a real listie, and own 3 CD's (Which is
more than I can say for about 95% of the musicians in my collection).

Poughkeepsie was the song that started it all for me (about 3 years ago).
And then I bought Til We Have Faces, and got incredibly disappointed. After
my first listen, I decided I hated that album, and it sat for about two years
before I dusted it off and realized that it wasn't so bad. Yes, I have to
admit GDBD is my fav. but don't hold it against me. If it wasn't for
poughkeepsie my eyes would probally still be glazed over. But, I listened to
the lyrics instead of the voice, and realized I quite liked them. Now I like
the voice also. Normally I have a hard time listening to any females' voice
that isn't a tenor (there are a few of those out there.... none of which I
can point out, mind you... but a few). Just ask the people that were around
me 2 Christmas season's ago, when I just about ran screaming when Jane
Sieberry sang at the Emery. My knuckles turned white on the arms of the
seat.

But enough of my opinion....
