re. same-old-same-old

Just some thoughts...

Back in the day, when Hootie and the Blowfish were sucking up more than
their share of airtime, I could not understand why my brother was so
enthralled with them or why he would still be so in love with them. When
I questioned him about this,he pointed out something that clarified this
issue as well as many others for me. See, I live in a city that is
glutted with radio stations. My brother lived in rural South-Central
Kentucky. I had to hear Hootie 12 times a day. He was lucky to hear
them on the radio 3 times a week. So...he didn't get quite as sick of
them as I did.

OtR content...

I think the same principle might explain why so many of you are so weary
of hearing the same songs performed the same way over and over again.
Most people don't get to see their favorite band live 10 times a year.
We're lucky if we get to see them once every couple of years. I really
don't believe OtR or any other band (except possibly Phish or The
Grateful Dead) are thinking at all of the repeat customer. Yeah, if you
see OtR on a regular basis - like twice a month - you will probably hear
a lot of reruns. To most of us, however, it's fresh.

Just a thought... (along with 2500 bonus points for whomever can find the
Fleetwood Mac title in this post...)
