1) Yes, John, who had/wrote Revelation, was Jewish.
2) Yes, the Revelation claims to be a culmination of Jewish prophecies.
3) No, present day Jews do not claim it, unless they've come over to the
Jesus side of things; and then terminology just gets really complicated.

As for "mythology." Hmmm. I'm on the digest, ya know, so maybe somebody
else jumped on this already and there's some angry exchange going on
right now, etc etc etc. I just don't know what's going on, is all.
So. Here's me. This doesn't make me mad.
But if you want to talk down an important bit of the faith of a whole lot
of very intelligent people on this list, be respectful. I suspect that
most of us Christians (at least here) do not come to acceptance of the
Revelation anywhere near FIRST. There's a huge belief structure
underneath that. And you just wrote that whole beautiful structure off
as Hebrew mythology.
It was smug in that too-cool-for-thought way. Which is poseur rhetoric,
buddy.
But since you presented your argument the way you did, what I should have
said from the first was just:
"No it's not."
reply: "Yes it is."
reply: "No it's not."
reply: "Yes it is."
And so on.
