Emery, Howe and Paragin Social Doppler theory

here is how pseudo-intellectualism goes out of control...

basic theory on Doppler effect: to achieve any kind of a Doppler effect, at
least one of the sources must be moving. as the sources move towards each
other, the frequency of, be it sound, light, etc, from the perspective of
the receptor/observer increases, and as the sources move away from each
other, the frequency decreases.

so the Emery, Howe, and Paragin Social Doppler theory states

1. Distance has an effect on interpersonal interactions.
the potential or frequency for interpersonal contact increases (or
decreases) in inverse proportion to the distance between the individuals.
e.g. as the two individuals moves toward each other, the frequency of
interpersonal contact increases, and vise versa.

2. *** In order for the theory to propagate, both individuals must
reciprocate communication, hence, one or both individuals can choose to
terminate the Doppler effect at any time. ***

3. In defining social Doppler theory, there are three levels of social
communication/interpersonal interactions.

level 1--face to face communication

level 2--non face to face-voice only communication

level 3--non-voice, written communication. e.g. email, normal mail,
telegram, etc, etc

the quality of social interaction decreases and the potential for
miscommunication increases as less personal levels of communication are
utilized.

As frequency of social interactions between two individual decreases, more
emphasis is placed on each incidence of contact, hence, more pressure on the
quality of each incidence, causing a higher potential for miscommunication
due to stress.
