The same as many african-americans refer to themselves wit the "N" word, that doesn't mean you should feel free to use it too.

"All warm and tingly" might be a slight exaggeration, but considering that 
New Zealanders unabashedly refer to themselves as Kiwis, I'm certainly not 
going to lose any sleep about using the same term of endearment.
