This is actually one band, "Todd Snider and the Nervous Wrecks". Sorry I
misled you. They have played on Austin City Limits before. I believe
their broadcast was paired with John Prine, who I also enjoy. You should
definitely check Todd Snider out. He has three albums out at this point.
"Songs for the Daily Planet", "Step Right Up", and "Viva Satellite".
They are all great. The first two are a little more acoustic than "Viva
Satellite". Viva rocks a bit harder, kinda in the vein of Tom Petty, but
still has some really good songwriting. I was fortunate enough to see
him live with The Bottlerockets about a year or so ago. Both bands were
very energetic and entertaining. I know his web page was
www.todd-snider.com but I am unable to find that now. If you just do a
search you can find album reviews and such.

I'm also a big fan of Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, and Iris DeMent.
I discovered Gillian and Lucinda from listening to Emmylou Harris'
"Wrecking Ball". I just loved "Orphan Girl" and "Sweet Old World", so I
had to hear the original versions. I found Iris because she played on
Austin City Limits. I have to admit, the first time I heard her I didn't
really give her a chance, but I saw the show again a few months later and
loved it. I also really enjoy James McMurtry.
