I think that Fred probably got to the root of the belief that suicide is
the unpardonable sin.

It all hinges on the doctrine of eternal security.  Did Jesus forgive
just your past sins when you accepted Him as Saviour, or did He forgive
all of your sin, past, present, and future.  I lean toward the second
option.  I agree with Fred.  I do not think our salvation can be lost. 
Jesus is the One who found us and pulled us close to Himself,  He gave us
the desire to surrender our soul to Him, and He is the One who is able to
keep us.  If my salvation was dependant on myself, I'd be pretty
terrified.  Since it is actually dependant on Him, I have peace.
