semantics?
hi.
before the bink gig in kent, i was thinking of the ppl who were coming in,
and i was using the word/phrase "rhinelander gathering" in my thoughts to
myself. as in, "we're going to have a nice rhinelander gathering
tonight."
then i saddened myself somewhat by wondering if what we were about to have
was a "listie gathering" instead.
and then i wondered of the differences. are listies rhinelanders? no,
not all of you, if as your barometer of the word is purchase of __besides__
and the concomitant entry fee.
are rhinelanders listies? well, no, certainly not all of them. so many
of them checked themselves out at the door with "get me the *&^% off this
list" requests. and some aren't e-mail / web capable. and some don't care
(read: ~have lives~).
does it matter? need there be a distinction? is one better than the
other, or the other better than the one?
we're like a little subset here. a microcosm of the OtR community. and
yet there was little connection with OtR that night (not that i overheard
or was involved in every conversation; there were just too many tables)
save for bink's cover of Lucy and my wearing the clock tee (which i think
is dying to be coffee-soaked to take on the sepia tone of the cover, and a
nice public thank you to Stacie at the OtR office: THANK YOU! *now go
find Hazel!*)
i dunno: just pondering.
never mind.
bye.

np: nothing now. (aaaack!!)
