Tribute

I was at Schuba's, but I might post later after I get back from work to tell
a little about it. But I had a definite woo woo! experience, going to the
first show. As I walked out, the line for the second show was out the door
and around the corner. Even people working in the restaurant across the
street were asking me who was playing.

Anyway. All this talk about a tribute album is really exciting to me, and
since I am a performer, I'd so love to sing on a track, but I don't know any
of you very well, and well, gosh, I have no music connections. But it's
still exciting. Rah!

Does anyone have the "I Wanna Be Kate" CD that was produced by Brown Star
records in Chicago? It's a great CD and maybe something to look at to glean
some inspiration/confidence on what it's like to have an independent cover
album of a big star. A bunch of Chicago bands got together and picked their
favorite Kate Bush song and made a CD out of it. It's really very good -
there's a huge variety, from the Sarah McLachlan wanna be girl on piano
doing "Kick Inside" to the old blues guy doing "Home For Christmas" to some
other ska-ish band doing "Running Up That Hill." In a good number of cases
the songs are a direct departure from the original, and although some Kate
Bush purists out there might rankle, I found it to be a fabulous way to pay
tribute.

There *was* a website on the CD ... let me search.
AH, yes!

TWO sites. Anyway, this tribute is SO possible with this much interest in
it. I know they tried to contact Kate about the CD, but as far as I know,
she never responded. They went ahead, full steam.
