WOW...
Well, yesterday was quite the experience.
First off, not having to work was fun... just bumming around the apartment
until time to leave. I got into Cincy around 4:30... stopped off at
several CD stores and other cool places on Vine. At one place, I picked up
Mike Georgin's solo CD and his band Slant's CD. At another, I saw the Tori
Amos "In the Springtime of His Voodoo" single... and I almost picked it up
for Chris. I also saw tons of Radiohead singles... which would have broken
my supply of cash in my pocket. Next time...
Anyway, I waited for about 20 minutes at Daniel's until I saw Drew pull up.
However the bastard doesn't come in the front way. Oh well... then Bruce
comes in a bit later and he goes and gets Drew downstairs (I didn't know
there was another entrance). Anyway, after a while Jessyka came in. She
is truly a fun spirit being to hang out with. Finally we went downstairs
and got some grub and drinks. No Killian's Red at Daniel's either, but I
settled for a reasonable facsimile (don't remember what it was called,
though). Stef and her "kick me in the jimmie" Anderson U buds were down
there. Cool bunch of people.
We met up with Ysoi and Gardner on the way down the sidewalk to Bogart's.
And then once inside, we found Kyle & Chris (and then Jay & Lynzi later).
I bought some more CDs, as most people did...
Cut to the chase, the show was really good. Terri didn't pull out her
violin, which is a shame. I really like the sound that it adds to OtR's
music... they played some stuff that I don't think I've seen them do...
specifically "Paul & Virginia" (or was that Virthinia?) and "Rhapsodie"
(well, maybe I have heard them do that). I think I like the more intimate
settings of the Canal Street Tavern shows, but the Bogart's shows are still
really good.
Honestly, recently, I think meeting all you great listies is the best part
of the whole concert experience.
So, who's going to the Monk & Vigilantes of Love show next week at Kent??
