Bogart's Show - "C'MON!"

The morning after the Bogart’s show…

This is the first OTR show I have seen since the last time they played at
Bogart’s about 9 months ago. After that show I said I would never go to see
them there again because the sound quality was terrible and it definitely
wasn’t one of their best performances.

Well, I did go back to Bogart’s for their show last night and I’m glad I
did. This show was the diametric opposite of the one 9 months ago. The
sound quality was great and the band was tight.

Surprises of the night:

When the curtain opened, who was playing bass guitar for the evening? None
other than the MONK bassist, David ????. This was a big surprise to me.

Karen’s Hair: This is the first time I’ve seen the new color…it’s ok, but I
still gotta think the blonde look is better. ;>

The balcony was NOT open – thumbs down to Bogart’s for this!!

Can you say – “MY LOVE IS A FEVER”? I knew you could…

Ok, I’m not going to go into any lengthy review, but I will touch on a few
of the highlights. The “C’MON” referenced in the title comes from
Linford’s little addition to Jacks Valentine, after which he explains that
“C’MON” has to be said in a certain was to make it effective…great humor
there. Sort of unusual...

At the beginning of the show Terri almost faded into the background
(literally). There were a couple occasions when, due to the lighting, she
could hardly be seen. She was more visible as the show continued though.

Jack put on one of his best performances and seems to have most of the songs
down well (it’s not like he hasn’t had the time… ;).

Karen was smiling more and having more fun at this show that any I have seen
since the good ‘ol days (pre-breakup). This was one of the most interesting
things to me. Linford also seemed a lot looser than normal – no glares at
other band members, just very much into the music. He didn't talk as much
as he has in the past though. Karen spoke more as the show went on (what
WAS up with the cow costume???).

NO announcement was made about Brian (or Terri) leaving. If you were just a
fan who went to the show and did not read this list you would have NO
idea…the playing was great and everyone seemed happy. I know there were a
LOT of listies there though because a lot of people were yelling “We love
you Brian” and such things throughout the show. They knew...

Which brings me to my last thought…as the curtain parted and I saw 2/3 of
MONK (David and Brian…notwithstanding Brian’s OTR membership) standing on
stange playing…along with the rest of the band, it occurred to me that one
thing would make this complete. This thought became even more evident as
they got into some of the old stuff that I haven’t heard live in AGES (My
Love is a Fever, Falling, etc).

I'm starting to like Jack now, but if Rick ever agreed to come back, right
before OTR went big again, that would be perfect…maybe that’s just a little
nostalgia talking, but, after seeing both Brian and David up there, didn’t
it cross your mind to?

Linford, maybe it’s time for a little healing? Extend the invitation to
David and Rick to join…and get Brian to stay. Open of the creative control
and let everyone contribute again. This kind of music cannout be done with
2 people…

Great show last night. Hope many of you were there.
