If Lanois produces, go with the major label.  If not Lanois, someone you 
respect who will work with you and not stiffle your own creativity.  
However, If you are to work with a producer the label assigns you in an 
attempt to alter your image and sound, then do not sign.  Because with 
or without a producer or a label, "Good Dog Bad Dog" is the best cd 
recorded in it's genre perhaps, ever.  ~KT
