wow! oh, and to linford, too...

sorry if i already sent this...
our mail server said it didn't go through the first time...

rhine-o's,

hey, just wanted to share some interesting news. i just checked the server
statistics for my OtR site and found that over the last 6.4 days, i've
recieved hits from almost 180 distinct hosts. basically what that means is
that my little OtR site is getting about 30 hits a day, including hits from
Germany, the UK, Australia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Poland. Wow. Back
when i first put that site up, i was getting maybe 40 hits a week, mainly
from the USA. If my site is any form of indicator, it would seem that OtR's
little connection with the Cowboy Junkies was extremely helpful.

So, in response to Linford, i guess i would say that on a smaller scale,
you're already out there. People have definately taken notice of your
'wobbly vegetable cart' and are trying to get their hands on more of it. I
have a couple of friends who are by no means *fanatics*, but they still own
a copy of Eve. the reason they own a copy of eve is because back in 1994
they heard a little something here or there about OtR and were able to walk
into a record store and buy a copy off the shelves. though they aren't
*fanatics*, i still can't get either of them to part with their copies of
Eve. I guess my point here is that having your music accessible to the
general masses is a good, good thing. whether that takes the form of a
distribution deal or a major label contract i can't say. i just know that i
personally have no fears of OtR becoming a 3 chord, 3 minute power-pop
band, because they have never been that before... they've never had
leanings toward that. and even if they somehow do become 'the next big
thing', we should respect their decision and be thankful for what they have
given us already... six magnificient albums.

anyway, i know my response comes a bit late in the game, but i thought i'd
chime in just for kicks.

thank you and goodnight,
eric.
