Re: (fwd) To all, from Linford

list, linford, et al
be true to yourself. that, i think, is one of the most important things in
life. who's to say that you can't be yourselves and make a record with wider
distribution? if you can't? if the label is already trying to restrict your
freedom, then get out while you can, but if not, then i say go for it. you
had a small taste of that with eve. were you happy with those results? (we
were!!) think about why you left irs in the first place? are you willing to
risk that with another label? maybe i am asking more questions than i am
answering (and maybe they're the same ones you have been asking yourself and
you wish i would just shut up!), but i thinnk these are only decisions that
you can make. do you want to the freedom to do whatever you want or do you
want to be rock stars? frankly, i would be sick if i was driving through
south florida and heard an otr song blasting from a well-endowed volleyball
player's boom box. i don't know... so many of the songs hold so much more
meaning to me because they're not on the top-40. most of the time it's catchy
rhymes and addictive beats that make the hits, not words straight from the
pages of someone's diary (or soul). and that is how i feel about otr's music.
and if you can produce this kind of music with a big label backing, then i am
all for it. if not, i would rather have the heart. and another thing--i
can't imagine seeing otr play in a big arena one day. you're perfect for the
intimate feel of the coffeehouse and local bar. and i think you guys have
done fine to have the success you have on your own.
just my thought...i have more, but i think i have rambled long enough.
