Re: Changing the subject a second time

dear fellow listies....

i am sort of a lurker on this list ...i suppose, and i have skimmed thru
the past weeks mail....so i apologize now, in advance, if i say anything
that has already been said or something....

my point in this letter is not to furthur the debate...it is something i
am kind of wondering....
i am speaking to the entire, list no matter what your beliefs......

so first, to all of you who dont believe in god....or whatever,....if you
were at an over the rhine concert, and the band got up and said that they
were christians and they were going to now go on as a band that will
always lift up christ and that will always be their intentions.....but
then they went on to play the same great music they always
played..........

*******or*********
to those who are christians or what have you on this list....if you were
at an otr concert and the band got up and said ...hey to settle the
debate, we are all agnostics or atheists...or whatever....so stop
thinking we are christians....and then went on to play the same great
music........they always play..............

would any of you like their music any less? would the music move you
less? would you listen to them any less?
would the band be any less talented in your eyes?

it amazes me how we can debate this christianity versus non christianity
concept for so long....and get so wrapped up init.....i think it must
strike a chord somewhere in all of us....or it would not provoke such
chatter.......

let them make their art.......let them make their beautiful art for all
of us to enjoy...
...and yeah, sure, i have my own personal view of how i view the band and
their intentions....but i try hard not to categorize it as anything
because...i think otr is in a rare category, perhaps all of its own....

take care all....and hope to see some of you at the philly show.
steph
