No Introduction Necessary

Well, it's certainly an interesting question.

What I'm curious about is why do you ask about the *recent* trend? They used
the tactic of no introduction on their very first album, and although they
only used it one three of the songs, think about it. What are the most
popular songs on _Til We Have Faces_? Almost everyone you ask will mention
*Ubiquitous Hands* as their favorite, and I seem to remember many people
mentioning *Paul and Virginia* as another favorite.

I think that what happened is this....

They decided to have Karin start the song off a couple of times in the first
album to add a little bit of variety. They saw that it worked, so they
incorporated it into more of their other songs.

I think the reason why GDBD has more songs with Karin starting it off is
because of the lack of rocking instrumentation. We've all commented on the
*lack of Ric* on GDBD, and that may have something to do with it. I think
that they may have known that their music was moving in a new direction, and
they wanted to make a transition.

But you know all of this is just completely guess work on my part. Feel free
to disagree and put me in my place. *wink*

I personally like the technique of having the voice start off the song,
instead of instrumentation, but then there are some songs, like Eve's
*Bothered* that just wouldn't be right without the bass introduction to set up
the mood.......
