Re: interview

First let me start by saying, I don't really disagree
with the general list perspective on this topic.
However, Christianity can use whatever criteria they
want for their award. In light of the fact that Ohio
was eliminated from their award, if you follow the
link to their Glimpses of God section, there are some
very nice things said. They end their appraisal of
Ohio with:

"Human indeed, Ohio is one of 2003's most richly
rewarding albums, sacred or secular."

That is a very positive ending statement. This could
(not necessarily) show that the elimination of Ohio
has more to do with the constituency of the magazine
than the opinion of the people who listened to the
music.
This general topic of 'profane' words in music is one
that is pretty recently on my mind. A friend of mine
and I were discussing this very thing not too long
ago. Needless to say I could start another topic, but
as I began to think my thoughts didn't come coherently
to a nice pause. So I will think some more and perhaps
bring it up again later...unless someone else beats me
to it.
