Setlist & Review - Dubuque, IA

Words cannot describe it.

What a terrific venue, this Busted Lift. Underground Irish pub, stone walls, low ceilings striped with pipes, long candlelit tables, and Guinness on tap. The band seemed comfortable here, and, indeed, Linford mentioned that the band sometimes stops at the Lift "to partake of the Lord's provisions" when they're passing through.

I don't have a lot of time right now, so I'll post a set list with just a few brief notes, and an in-depth review later this week.

THE BUSTED LIFT - 9/26/03

- Cruel and Pretty (everybody just walked up onstage and started together)
- Long Lost Brother (Linford: "our only Catholic song")
- Show Me (Karin: "this is the single")
- Jesus In New Orleans
- She
- Nobody Number One
- Suitcase
- Lifelong Fling (Karin noted this was "by request")
- Ain't No Sunshine
- Changes Come (holy shee-ite, this was incredible!)
- All I Need
- Bothered (Karin: "for Jack, way, way, way, far away")
*ENCORE*
- When I Go (holy shee-ite, this was amazing!)
- My Love Is A Fever (Linford had to show the drummer and bassist how to play it)
- Latter Days

So we didn't get to hear "Ohio" or "B.P.D." but I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

More later!

"You make movies because you need to make movies.
Everything else is unimportant. If you wait to get the
money to make a movie, then you shouldn't make the
movie. If you need distribution in place before you have
the courage to make a movie, then it's not a movie worth
making. [...] You make movies to lose your money. That's
the purpose of making a movie - to put your life into
something - not to get something out of it."
