Yes!!  And they *love* Chagall.  Isn't there a quote of Linford's somewhere 
about being like Marc and Bella, except Bella has a brush too?  (Except in 
the one painting that I'm thinking of right now--there's tons of floating 
with Chagall--it's the woman who's drifting off...)

Michelle...thanks so much for your entire explication!  I follow you right 
along...yes.

For some reason I'm reminded of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe...the 
children are asking about Aslan and Mr. Beaver says, "Safe?  Course he isn't 
safe!  But he's good."
