Another tip:  when asking someone to housesit for you, make sure they're
aware of the intricacies of the place you're renting.  One such friend
of mine had me watch her place, but didn't realize that one of her
outlets was connected to a wall switch.  Me, being the good housesitter
I am, made sure to turn off all the "lights" when I left... and guess
what happened to be plugged into that outlet?  Yup, refridgerator.

Smelled interesting after a few days.

There's now a piece of tape over that switch.
