I have a great sense of humor.  Perhaps it isn't sophisticated enough to find "Alas. There WERE free refills, and you know me well enough to know that I set up fucking CAMP at the nozzle, and soaked my feet in the blood of the scores of boy scouts that I'd killed" funny; but still, I do have a sense of humor.  I was merely pointing out that between the first and fifteenth e-mail, only 3 or 4 people were participating in a thread that appeared more like a series of inside jokes common to friends than something appropriate for other hundred or so people that subscribe to this list in one form or another.  Again, I know the list carries on conversations about a wide variety of subjects that may or may not be connected with OtR.  I've been a subscriber in one form or another for five years or more.  However, there is a difference in conversations that are appropriate for everyone, and conversations that really could be carried on privately.  After about the 3rd or 4th "witty one-liner response" in one of
these threads, if it doesn't look like a number of people are joining in, perhaps you can remove the remainder of the list from your "reply to all."
 
And for the record, the "off topic conversation on Christian literature was interesting and informative.  I even contributed as did a number of others that "de lurked to participate."  I wonder if many of the lurkers do so because they feel as alienated these insider conversations as I do.

Or, even better... Consider exercising a sense of humor. That's worked for me, and look at the shape I'm in!
 
And, just out of curiosity, what, specifically, gets your panties all in a bunch about this thread?

I'm not talking about topic...I'm talking about participation....these exchanges become a three-way/four-way conversation that really doesn't include anyone else or, relate to anyone else.  I feel like I'm being forced to to eavesdrop on a conversation that I really doesn't interest me. After 13 or so e-mails of the same dribble, I can't delete them fast enough.
