Unless one sees the present conflict as the culmination of the war which
began when Iraq invaded Kuwait 13 years ago.  Technically, I believe that
war never ended -- it was just put on hold while the rest of the world
waited to see whether Saddam would live by the terms of the cease-fire he
had agreed to and disarm.  Apparently the Brits and Americans have given
up waiting for him to make his case that he has, in fact, done so.

I'm not so convinced of that.  That may be true of the leaders in many
Arab countries, but I'm not so sure it's true of Saddam.

On the bright side, at least this war will mean an end to sanctions.
