um.

strong sense of community? but in a wierd way.

you move a lot. that can be good.

let's put it this way - he's in the marins - there's a good chance he
won't be stationed away from you as much as a Navy family would
experience.

but in wartime - the marines hop on ships and go places first.

they usually have shorter runs of duty, though.

it's like any other life, except yo8u live it all the time. i recommend
living OFF base if possible. and leaving the base at the base (:

i got to ride a nuclear sub once. that's a plus (:

i think it's different from a child's view point than a sweethear or
wife's perspective...

i was glad when dad got out - since all i knew was he would come home for
a while, and then leave. i was sure there was something i'd done. and i
was sure he wouldn't come back. although - i bet that was more due to the
fact that he couldn't tell us anything (now he can say some, since his
ship is declassified) at the time - and we were young.

anything is bearable and even fun. i would recommend having a strong
identity (:
