Aussie boys, San Diego boys, British boys & change for a dollar

picked up the following today...

Silverchair - Diorama : which many people claim as their best work
yet... i *loved* their last album (Neon Ballroom), so this was a
no-brainer at $7.99. no-freakin-brainer. they've matured a-plenty
since their debut album at the young age of 16(!)... wasn't that, like,
8 years ago... geez, 4 or 5 albums later and they're still younger than
me... boohoo... well, they better watch out, because one of these days
i'll be younger then them, and then we'll see who's talkin' to who.

POD - Satellite LE & DVD : i'm glad that i waited to buy this now...
haha... $11.99 for a CD (with bonus tracks) and a 25min DVD... i've
liked these guys since _Snuff the Punk_, but that Atlantic debut
(Fundamental Elements of Southtown) was boring; so i held off on this
CD... i'm glad... got a good deal this week.

BBMak - Into Your Head : i'd always heard of them as a british boy
band... but i have a disease. i'll work towards getting *anything* that
my triumvirate of heros (Kevin Moore, Mike Patton, Nuno Bettencourt)
puts out... and between the three of them, it's a hell of a lot. just
Mike Patton alone would fill up a shelf and a half of space. anyway,
Nuno Bettencourt co-wrote, produced and played guitar on one song from
BBMak's new album... so, i suppose i shelled out $7.99 for one song, but
at least it wasn't $16.99 for one song. anyway, i haven't given it a
listen yet, but i also thought that this CD was cool because it had
full-length video *and* track-by-track commentary for every song on the
CD. holy crap! i've only known of one other artist to do this (Glen
Phillips), and that wasn't even on his initial release of the album.
that's sweet with a side of sweet sauce. i hope i dig these BBMak boys,
otherwise a commentary of crap is still crap.

and the impulse purchase of Weird Al's UHF movie on DVD... :)

i passed on Coldplay's new one for now... it'll roll around cheap at
Half.com in a few months, i'm sure. Chris Martin's more of a pompous,
whiny prick than Thom Yorke anyday, but i wish the music was an
interesting as his mentor's...
