the violet burning and owen's ring (no otr)
hi kids!
last night i found myself in club laga, one of the few people old enough to
get into the cage where you find the bar, and the opening band did not
impress me at all. i was incredibly upset, because someone on this list had
endorsed "owen's ring" and i thought this band was them...
they weren't.
i sat drinking my beer and searching the club entrance for the arrival of the
mattrix. funny enough, it wasn't he that i recognized, but his friend joe!
i pulled them into the bar with me, we got soda to drink, and started playing
a game of skip-bo at the table, waiting for owen's ring to set up...they were
really good! i liked the guy's voice, and they had some great music.
the burning was amazing, though, in my opinion! there were a couple of
freaky moments for me, but with the mattrix and friend joe there to "protect"
(ha!) me, i was ok. :) i was thoroughly amused by them, and i loved the
music at the concert. unfortunately, i was falling asleep by ten o-clock, so
i had to go home...but i think the concert was done shortly after that.
if you have a chance to go and see the burning, go. they are
fabulous...really good live. i knew that i enjoyed them, but i hadn't heard
any of their music in a long time (their's was one of the cds lost in the
infamous cd stealing crisis, goodness, three years ago, now!), so it was fun
to see them.
and now i get to see dar williams tomorrow!
hey, rachel, i am sorry that you won't get to see dar tomorrow, but you
*will* be coming to the pittsburgh over the rhine show, right? you'll be 21
by then, right?
