In the greater sense, yes, the local economy lives and dies with the
University. If it were to suddenly close, the area would implode. On the
other hand, I'm not looking for a managerial position at a big
company...I'm just looking for something part-time during the school year
and full-time during the summer to tide me over. That is much easier to do
than getting a good full-time job.

Thanks.

Oh, it is cool for that week. =) It's one of my favorite parts of being a
local. During the rest of the year, there is not so much ready-made fun
like what would be available in a major metropolitan area. I have quite a
few good friends to make up for it, though. We make our own fun. For
example, we took inflatables and slid down the spillway of the local lake a
month ago. It sounds like it might not be that much fun, but it really
is. There's something about using an illegitimate water slide combined
with the fear of getting caught that makes it more of a rush than any other
water slide out there.
