re: Jack's voice/Oceans 11

For me personally, I still think that Jack's voice is pretty bad. At the
Rosebud concert in Pittsburgh, my friend and I just cringed as he started
singing. It could be that it's just a VERY dramatic difference from Karin's
velvet to Jack's sandpaper (and that difference is just hard to take). I
guess I've heard him 3 or 4 times now, the most recent being at the
Lancaster, PA concert last month. When he sings harmony or lead WITH Karin,
it is usually considerably better. It reminds me a little of Gillian Welch
and David Rawlings--I don't like David's solo voice very much because it is
very "twangy", but when he sings harmony with Gillian, it's truly wonderful.

That's of course not to diminish from his songwriting capabilities, which
I'm sure are good (I've only heard the songs her performs at OtR concerts).

Just saw Ocean's 11 at the cheap theatre (50 cents!!! Can you believe
that? I'm not used to a price that cheap!) What a well-done movie. It's
only slightly disturbing that you're rooting for the bad guys. (Is that how
brainwashing is done? Just make the bad guys have a good excuse? "Truth is
relative" kind of thing?) I could've sworn the guy who played the casino
owner was Matt Lauer (from Today on NBC or whatever it's called)! Turns out
it's someone else (Andy Garcia I think).

ANYWAY, that's my thought's on these subjects =)

Sincerely;
Daniel J. Summers

>By the way, Jack's voice is improving -- especially his control and
range...last I heard him I thought it truly beautiful. Anyone else?
