Charming, playful.  I was one of three student reporters interviewing him
together -- he was promoting his four-hour version of _Hamlet_, so he
especially wanted to make time for the college crowd -- and it was a fun
group discussion, even if (as always happens in group interviews) the
other reporters' questions kept pulling him away from the directions that
my own questions happened to be going in.  It's a lot more fun when you
can have an interviewee all to yourself, and you can settle into a groove
and just have a conversation -- not that it always happens that way.

Actually, I think I'll post the transcript of the interview on my web
site.  I've just fished it out of my archives, but I haven't converted it
to the HTML format yet -- but check the following URL in a few hours:
