I used to think the world of OMD -- Before they broke the '80s big-time with
"If You Leave...", their first U.S. single to chart was "Secret," and I
watched them perform it (back when TV lip-syncing was considered performing)
one Saturday morning in the mid 1980s on American Bandstand. I taped in on
my parents VCR, back to back with a Solid Gold rendition of the Thompson
Twins performing Kind for a Day and wore the tape out. What a glittery,
paisley-spangled decade.
