I'll admit to liking MWS's "Place in This World" and having seen Carman
perform once, but that's about it.

My nickname originates from a high school youth group, with no real rhyme
or reason. Before my sophomore year, my family moved to a new town. It
was the summer, so the quickest way to meet people was not through school
events. I quickly attached to an ecumenical youth group. The problem was,
there were already too many other Chrises. Something had to be done! The
first night, a naming ceremony took place. A senior (who I immediately
identified with) declared "I dub the Smitty!"

Ever since, that has been my name. My own father calls me that from time
to time. The name followed me through high school and no to college. When
someone calls and asks for "Chris" or "Christian," it usually takes my
roommate a second or two to figure out the caller means me. ;)

Oh, and thanks for the welcome. I'm gonna go and munch on an imaginary
apple or two, now...maybe make some cider. 'Tis the holidays, you know...

-Smitty
