Re: Honors for FFR/my OTR story (long)

<dan: where does the white go when the snow melts? ---shamelessly stolen from lostie sue's sister chris.>

it just goes, i don't ask it WHERE, but i try to find out when it'll be back - this year it lied to me and i'll never trust it again.
okay, you're right, much like i do an undeserving girlfriend, i'll trust it again (i'm weak like that)

oh yeah, can i share my over the rhine story? thanks, i knew noone would complain

okay, so i had this girlfriend a few years back and she did me no good - as silent bob said in clerks,

'there's lots of beautiful girls out there, but not many of them will bring you lasagna at work, most of them will only cheat on you and make you feel bad'

three guesses which type she was - and the first two don't count....
anyway, the one good thing she did was hook me on over the rhine. well, actually it was only one song, but still, it counts, right? the song was latter days, btw.
so i broke up with her and never heard from over the rhine again...well, till june or july when they played the area, but i didn't really remember who they were, so i didn't see them, but then i got to thinking, later than i should have, as usual, and bought god dog bad dog and remembered why i liked it so much.
so i eagerly awaited the next chance i'd get to see them....october came faster than i had wanted to, but i was free for a weekend, so i packed up a few things, a bunch of blankets (sleep in the car on road trips, it's the best way to go) so, friday october 12th came and i had the day off from work - had to spend time with my sister and brother-in-law before they flew back to alaska - and i left at around 2:30 for kent, ohio and the show at brady's - it kicked ass! although i still can't stand college towns (yeah, i know, wednesday is in ann arbor - the mecca of college towns).
oh yeah, while i was in kent, a few minutes before the show, actually, i stopped at this cd store that was conveniently located right next to the cafe - they had the nirvana heart-shaped box set (eight discs, pretty much everything they had recorded - 157 songs) so i picked that up (thereby not being able to get a room for the night).
yeah...digressing once again as i tend to do so very often...
anyway, kim taylor was soooo good! you have to check her out when you get a chance - her cd is due out next year and i can hardly wait.
so, after the show i hung around a bit, talked to linford for a few minutes, asked him about the next night's show, and left for dalton.
it was also acoustic, a very awesome show, and once again i said hey to linford before the show. i came hoem afterward since i was so damned energetc and good music always makes me want to drive.

oh yeah, before the dalton show, they were playing elvis costello's 'indoor fireworks' over the PA (it was in a high school gym) and this kid behind me was asking who it was, wondering if it was the cowboy junkies, the people he was with didn't recognize it, so i kindly pointed out that it was elvis costello. this prompted them to start asking me about how i knew the band, etc. - veryu nice people, nobody around here is ever that interested - i go for a walk and people run inside and lock their doors. so i told them about how i drove all the way from detroit to see the shows that weekend and how great i thought they were, etc. they turn out to be linford's family. they invited me to spend the night on their couch, but i was really in the mood to drive, as i had said, so i (hopefully politely) refused their offer and made it back here in just over 2 and a half hours.
i wrote a lot during that weekend, some about the trip too, but that's it, that's my big experience (i warned you it was a long story).

PS: on a side note, indoor fireworks just came on...talk about coincidence
