Anyone care to explain the jury system in a few words?

here's a "thumbnail" sketch:
then...you sit in the jury box & listen to witnesses & evidence from both
opposing & defending attorneys.
depending on the severity of the crime (i.e. murder or rape), you are
"sequestered".
meaning you have NO contact with the outside world & are sworn not to
discuss the matter between yourselves until "deliberations" occur.
"deliberations" occur when ALL the evidence has been shown & after the
attorneys present their final arguments of guilty or not-guilty. the jury
meet in a private room & "deliberate" the final outcome. be it guilty or
not-guilty. there's plenty more - but - that's it in the proverbial
nutshell.

on another topic - have you ever been to flevofest? my old band played there
back in the 80's.
