Re: Over-The-Rhine Digest V3 #724

<<the dead theologians society and i are getting ready
to read chesterton's "orthodoxy." anyone read it?
what do you think?>>

i've read it. i think "heretics" probably should be
read first because it "orthodoxy" is written in
response to critics of "heretics". it is good though,
and he does a good job of bringing in ideas that at
least i'd never heard before. for example, he talks
about things like flowers being certain colors not
because they couldn't be any other colors, but because
a Mind made them that way. he thinks it's evidence
that the universe was thought up by a Mind that things
are one way and not another. anyway, have fun. it's
good reading and he's one of the most logical and
witty guys i've ever read.
