RE: tattoos and contradictions

Leviticus 19:28 Um, doesn't it mention something about not tattooing your
bodies? I guess that's just one of those prohibitions many people (some
christians?) *choose* to overlook or ignore cause it's just not practical.
If
you believe in the bible how can you justify picking and choosing what is ok
now, even though it's right there in the bible saying don't do this?

I have 5 of them and want more work on two of them. Yay! for body art.

Peace~
Holly

i am SO glad you brought that "passage" up!
another list i'm part of had that discussion about two months ago.
here's a couple of things we came up with:

1. leviticus 19:28 - speaks of "honouring" the dead with those marks
(tattoos).
i'm not honouring any dead people!
2. leviticus is in the old testament - meaning the "law". we live in the
"grace" of new testament times.
3. genesis 4:15 - GOD himself, gave cain a mark (tattoo) so that whoever
sees him will not kill him, or they will suffer seven times the vengeance of
GOD for cain killing his brother abel.
4. revelation 19:16 - are you sitting down for this one? apparently jesus
himself has a tattoo. this passage says, "on his thigh is written, KING of
KINGS & LORD of LORDS".

keep in mind:
a) NO ONE got into a lather about it.
b) it was a healthy exchange of thoughts, ideas & interpretation/conviction.

peace & veggies,
david
