Are you saying this is what HarperCollins is doing with the Narnia books?  
I think what they're doing is more akin to the sequels to _Gone with the
Wind_ and _Les Miserables_, authorized and otherwise, that have come out
in the past decade.  They certainly haven't changed the originals.
