_Chasing Amy_ is the only film of Kevin Smith's that I've cared for all
that much, probably because it's the only one that had remotely
interesting characters, who seemed to exist for their own reasons.  The
characters in his other films just exist as mouthpieces for the jokes
and/or, in the case of _Dogma_, Smith's rants about religion.

And some of his jokes are *so* contrived, they just aren't funny.
