RE: Over-The-Rhine Digest V3 #494

let me tell you exactly how fast and why you should delete that.

the sender is hahaha at sexyfun_net or something like that. i got it on my
office e-mail address, so don't think that you have to go to naughty sites
to get it . . . that computer has never been to one, so i have no idea where
they got that address from. Anyway, by opening it, you install the
w32/mm at dll_exe virus, or something like that. it attacks your w32.dll files
which therefore causes endless issues with your OS. (again--"or something
like that" i am fairly computer savvy, but i am not sure of the exact
details here.) anyway, i think it also installed an annoying "spirale"
thing on my computer as well. that was just a spinning black and white
spiral on my screen, but it would sit on top of everything and make it
impossible to work. the only way to get rid of it was to remove the command
for it from my win.ini file. on top of that, it replicated itself into many
different files, so every so often, one of them tries to boot up. they
rename themselves into these little aabbaaff.exe or cdecdecde.exe.
something like that
beware.
otr. content. any dallas listee that are anxiously awaiting april 14

I received two messages today, sender somehow hidden from the mail program
I am using, both with the subject header:
"The REAL story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" or something like
that. One contained an attachment called SEXYVIRGIN.scr, and the other
contained some sort of .exe. I've since deleted both, but the one looked to
be sent to my address *and* to the OtR list, which is why I asked.

I'm so sorry for the spam, but I just downloaded Eudora yesterday, and it's
been a bit wonky. That, coupled with the stuff I saw in the virus emails,
 caused me to post.

But hey, as I was freaking out, watching my McAfee burn all the viruses to
a toasty crisp, FFR was playing!
