Don't to bend the topic. That would be absurd.
. . . You only have to realize that there is no topic.
Jean Bauudrillard is a brilliant flake who giggles when he is quoted (I
suspect).
Melanie--
To make your sense of "prettiness" work in smarty pants a and e culture,
all you gotta do is find a way to theorize the aesthetic and
communicative value of prettiness. No time to figure it out now, but I
suspect that such theory has something to do with the fact that physical
beauty or ugliness is actually part of the message machinery of the
movie. Go Marx: how does the beauty of the film fit or not fit with the
material coditions depicted? Moving thus, you might find that a movie
like Spielberg's _The Color Purple_ is remarkably and ironically and
confusingly beautiful give its cotent. Um. Maybe. But, anyway,
Daughters of the Dust is a quiet, beautiful film. You might love it.
Kelvin--
Thanks. :)
All--
Ridiculously off-topic: Can someone in chemistry please give me a clue
about entropy? (Please, no lit aswers and no Pynchon fans; I'm trying to
subvert him.) Specifically, I'm looking for a quick way to understand
what is might by "etropy increases" vs. "entropy decreases." I just had
a notion that a couple of you might be able to answer this. Off list
answers are probably best. :)
Michael Knott show Saturday in Marion was amazing, as hoped. OtR link:
played with Ticklepenny Corner redux (just the bro and sis) as opener and
then as back up folks. (They're really very good and earthy ad *clearly*
Americana.) The first thing Mike did was batter his guitar strings and
then holler into the venue without the mic. This filled the venue
completely.
Still off-topic, ain't I?
Must go.
