Re: Over-The-Rhine Digest V3 #474

Hello, all.
I, too, am one of these listees who remains silent for the most part, usually
reading the digest and putting some of the ideas on the back burner to mull
over later when I've got more time, and, sadly, on occasion merely skimming
over the content.
Some of you I know, some I've seen at many a show but haven't personally met
yet (Hello, Bink, as you are obviously one of the more easily spotted
ones--I've seen you at maybe 10 shows over the yrs?).
But I feel I had to write now, to get some of your thots. I, too, was at the
Taylor show. I loved Karin and Linford's acoustic version of GMS (altho it
was kinda amusing--and somewhat almost uncomfortable, sad maybe even?--to see
Linford presenting quite uncomfortable out from behind his keyboards); her
vocals just seared my soul, closed my eyes, took me away, made me cry inside.
then compare w/ the recorded version on FfR.... I like that one, too (and
yes, it could easily fit into a Bond movie w/ silhouettes of women and guns);
it has moving heartbeat to it, and it goes great in a darkend room w/ candles
and incense. and yet, I dare say that maybe I embrace the acoustic version
more? I think it moved me more, it touches me deeper than the recorded
version. (but maybe it just depends on my mood.... memories have a way of
fading, anyway.) what do y'all think, those who've heard both? (besides the
review we heard from the Wheaton concert--sounds like that was a let down!)
anywho, am also a big L'engle fan; nice to meet someone else who's reading
her Glimpses of Grace!!
