words left unsaid

it's saturday...cleaning day. lots of bleach. but
don't worry. i opened the windows. i think i need to
open more.

as i've bopped around to ffr this morning/afternoon,
i've been thinking about a sort of new theme in the
lyrics. before, i'd keep encountering "a little lower
than the angels." now it's "words left unsaid."

i've been wondering if it's an acknowledgement of the
power of suggestion...that the most powerful
expression with words is what's accomplished by what
you suggest and leave out. i have some other ideas
too...about fear, appropriateness/wisdom and/or about
not being whole too. but i wanna know what you guys
think.

in "the world can wait," we hear it in the chorus ("i
want to tell you things i'll never tell").

the bridge for "if nothing else" goes into "words in
my head/ like misfits aftermidnight/ begging for a
light/ words left unsaid/ they may never see the light
of day/ and that may be okay".

then in "whatever you say," after a nice catharsis,
you have "all of these words/ that will never be said/
without you/ whatever you say/ why can't it be true/
whatever you say."
